Online counselling allows you to access support without needing to travel to an appointment. Sessions can be done by Zoom or phone, using a computer, tablet or mobile phone.
For a lot of people, this makes counselling much easier to fit into normal life. You might be working full-time, doing FIFO, living regionally, looking after kids, or simply prefer speaking from the privacy of your own home.
Some people also find online counselling less confronting than sitting in a counselling room face-to-face. Being in your own space can make it easier to open up, especially if you are new to counselling or unsure what to expect.
I offer telehealth counselling for people dealing with anxiety, depression, addiction, grief and loss, relationship stress, work pressure, burnout, low motivation, or feeling stuck and unsure what direction to take next.
Zoom counselling is simple to set up. Before the session, I send you a link. You click the link at the appointment time, and we talk from there. You do not need to be good with technology.
If video does not suit you, phone counselling is also available. Some people prefer voice-only sessions because it feels more relaxed or private.
Remote counselling can also be helpful if you move around for work, travel regularly, live outside Adelaide, or want to keep seeing the same counsellor even when your location changes.
The focus of the session is the same as in-person counselling. We talk through what is going on, make sense of the pressure you are under, and work out realistic next steps.
Online counselling is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent help, call 000. If you need immediate mental health support, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.
Sessions are available online via Zoom or phone, and in-person sessions are also available in Colonel Light Gardens, South Australia.
